RYE DRIFTWOOD GARDEN CLUB
MARCH WITH RYE DRIFTWOOD GARDEN CLUB
The regular monthly meeting of the Rye Driftwood Garden Club will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 16, 2010 in the Fellowship Hall of the Congregational Church at Rye Center. Recipients of the Rye Driftwood Garden Club 2010 Landscaping Grants for places on public view in the seacoast area have been invited to this meeting to receive their checks. These grants will be awarded to the following: $500.00 to the Seacoast Science Center at Odiorne Point in Rye for establishment of a Butterfly Way Station, $500.00 to the Friends of Bicentennial Park in North Hampton, $250.00 to the Rye Public Library for gardening classes for youngsters and $250.00 to the Rye Junior High School for landscaping at the end of the athletic field.
The March program will be presented by Wendy Booth, a bee keeper, who will discuss bee keeping requirements, the role of bees and their importance in our lives. The Hostess Committee for this meeting will be chaired by Carmen Worrell.
The monthly workshop will be held the following Tuesday, March 23rd, when participants will decorate a watering can or pail. Members may sign up for this workshop at the March meeting.
The Spring Luncheon is planned for Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at the Stage Neck Inn, York, Maine. Reservations are required. Members should send their checks for $25 and choice of salmon or chicken to RDGC, PO Box 33, Rye, NH 03870.
Plans are underway for the Annual Plant and Bake Sale to be held on Friday, May 21st and Saturday, May 22nd at 485 Wallis Road in Rye. Proceeds from this sale enable the club to fund landscaping grants, horticultural scholarships, educational speakers and beautification projects throughout the town.
