There were two (2) High Water Mark Signs placed in the Town of Rye for public visibility for the awareness of Sea-Level rise and impacts on rising waters.

The first sign placed on Wallis Road near the turnout area (on the right heading west) where the creek flows beneath the road just west of Route 1A. The sign was mounted on 2 standard galvanized steel sign posts and was installed by Rye Dept of Public Works. The second sign located at the kiosk at the Odiorne State Park and  installed by the NH Parks Department staff. A presentation was made to both the Selectmen and to the Planning Board on the project and the signs and locations.

New Online Mapping Tool – New Hampshire Coastal Viewer

NHDES, in collaboration with the University of New Hampshire’s GRANIT System and other project partners, have launched the New Hampshire Coastal Viewer an online mapping tool that gives anyone with an Internet connection the ability to access more than 150 spatial data sets and to make and share their own customized maps. For the first time, the Coastal Viewer brings both new and existing coastal resources and hazards-related spatial data sets in the 42 communities of N.H.’s coastal watershed together in one place. The State of New Hampshire has an emergency notification system known as “NH-ENS”. The NH-ENS alert system may be used to broadcast emergency alert messages to inform citizens of a situation requiring immediate attention such as severe weather conditions (hurricanes, tornadoes, ice storm, ect) evacuations, missing child alert, boil water notifications and hazardous material incidents. Outbound messages can be broadcast for voice, text messaging and e-mail. NH-ENS alert system has a list of all E-911 customers in the State of New Hampshire. The State of New Hampshire and the Town of Rye are encouraging you to sign up your cell phone numbers and e-mail address to receive emergency notifications.
